"Located in Beyoğlu (Galata port area facing the Bosphorus) this relatively new museum exists since 2004. Compared to other Modern Art museums in the world, the collection is still rather limited, but well presented on two floors. There is figurative as well as abstract art and not just paintings. Personally I liked Chiharu Shiota's 'Between Worlds' (Turkey and Japan). Of the Turkish artists my favourite is Kemal Önsoy. Do not forget to enjoy the views from the roof. Entrance fee for foreigners 750 TL"

"If you have been to any major museum like the GEM in Cairo, British Museum or the Louvre, you will be vastly underwhelmed with this museum. There is only one floor currently open. Our local tour guide said the major attractions are not available."

"Small museum, takes about 1 hour. Exhibits include astrolabes, military equipment and various medical and dental tools and how Muslims have contributed to human knowledge. 500 Lira, credit card machine was not available when I went, though I don't know if its permanent or just that day. No queue at 4pm. A very niche subject area, might not appeal to all."

"This museum is a place of life not only for its artifacts but also for the spirit it embodies. It allows one to experience the traces of our journeys everywhere, the elegance of our culture, and the depth of our faith. It was a source of pride to witness the richness of Turkish-Islamic civilization."
